- Prepare 1 piece Onion

The secret to tender flavorful beef is to gently simmer the meat in a broth made from dashi. Gyudon (or beef bowl) is like a comfort food for the Japanese. It can be prepared quickly and it has nutritious ingredients like beef, onion, rice, and sometimes egg.
Instructions to make Gyu Don (Beef on Rice):
- Cut the Onion in half vertically. Peel off about two Onion layers at a time and cut them into wedges from the edge.
- Cop the spring Onion into 5mm lengths.
- Put the water, Japanese Soup Stock, Soy Sauce and Mirin in a frying pan, and Mix it well. Bring to a boil. Add onions and beef, in that order, and remove the scum.
- Simmer for 4 minutes with cover.
- Place 250grams cooked rice on a bowl. Place the ingredients on the bowl of rice. Then finish with the spring Onion trefoil.

In Japan, gyudon is sometimes served with a raw egg yolk or onsen tamago (poached egg) in the. Japanese Beef bowl (Gyū-don) is a popular one-bowl dish that consists of a bowl of rice topped with thinly sliced beef and onions simmered in sweet soy-flavoured sauce.
